MCHS

    It is a fact that Mintal Comprehensive High School is an academic abode and stop over information highway in Tugbok District, Davao City. From  its humble beginning,  like a caterpillar in its restricting cocoon MCHS has metamorphosed into a beautiful butterfly.

The school was conceived by House Bill #8943 authored by Congressman Elias B. Lopez, 3rd District, together with Congressman Manuel M. Garcia and Congressman Jesus G. Dureza of the 2nd and 1st Congressional Districts of Davao City.  This House bill was approved on February 10, 1994 and became a law known as Republic Act 7739 s.1994.  

    The school is formerly the annex of Los Amigos National High School, SY1994-1995, occupying  two (2) classrooms of Bago Oshiro Elementary School through the initiative of Mrs. Lydia Villacorta.  In the middle of September,1994, the students were transferred to Mintal Elementary School under the administration of the late school principal Amado Lucena, Sr. who volunteered to share six (6) rooms for the high school. Of course, who can forget the contribution of Former Tugbok Deputy Mayor, Dr. Juan C. Tolero and Brgy. Capt. Natividad Tolero and the education advocates both local and national officials who have done their share for the establishment of the local high school in the community.

    Mr. Jose P. Balite, Teacher III of Los Amigos National High School was designated as Officer In-Charge by the Schools Division Superintendent Arnold P. Mollaneda, thus, gaining the honor as the Founding Father of MCHS. Eventually, Sir Joe became the School Principal then followed by equally efficient administrators Dr. Divina H. Solis, Mrs. Bernice C. Cañedo and the incumbent, Mr. Fortunato B. Sagayno.

    MCHS has given birth to 2 satellites; The Sto. Niño National High School and Tugbok National High School, and in its 16 years, has produced new breed of professionals, technical workers and new rosters of leaders and players of society, and at present, still remains the bastion of education in the district of Tugbok.

MINTAL COMPREHENSIVE National High School is implementing fully the Basic Education Curriculum under the DepEd thrust.
    The  PTCA Officials, Barangay Officials and stakeholders are very supportive to whatever plans and projects which are being undertaken by the school. Having established a harmonious relationship with the community, MCHS has ensured the cooperation and support of the stakeholders for the welfare of the youth.

    The school still needs facilities for the science laboratory, computers for the students’ hands on, reading laboratory, TLE Activity Room and other basic necessities needed to enhance the students’ trainings.

    At present the school is managed by the new dynamic school Principal MR. FORTUNATO B. SAGAYNO with 53 active teachers who are willing to sacrifice for the benefit and attainment of the basic quality education for the students.
