Heart's Day at ACLC Davao

All of us, for the most part, see Valentine’s Day as a romantic day especially for lovers. Not everyone celebrates it though. However, it is undeniably quixotic to see people who celebrate love and affection. In this connection last February 13, 2010, ACLC Davao held a pre-Valentine event at the school campus through the initiative of the Supreme Student Council (SSC). Thanks to the praiseworthy effort of the IT Club with Mr. Dionell E. Rafil who made the backdrop for the said event.

The said event had a T-shirt coding, each color represented a student’s status, may it be single (blue), in a relationship (pink), green (searching), black (brokenhearted), red (in love), and violet (available). Indeed, everyone was wearing their preferred color in order to convey their present status. Pretty exciting, wasn’t it? The program was started with a music jam. One of the event’s highlights was the “Meal or No Meal” game played by Jolly Marie Suralta, a second year SD student. Moreover, Jonas Capute and Phebie Mae Talili were hailed as the King and Queen Hearts. Truly, the ACLCians enjoyed the night with full of laughter and fun.

Valentine’s Day has always been a cherished event of the year and it will always be.

NSTP Feeding Program: Doing a Good Deed

In cooperation with the City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO), the NSTP students of ACLC Davao were able to pursue its thrust to have a feeding program last February 9, 2010 at Paginhawaan Drop-In Center for Children located at San Pedro Street, Davao City. It catered 11 unfortunate children; most of them were abandoned by their parents or relatives.

Accompanied by their adviser, Ms. Ronalea I. Talaboc, the program was started with a prayer followed by a series of fun games. As the highlight of the said event, the children were delighted as they relished the food that were prepared and served by the students themselves. As the program ended, prizes were given to the winners of the fun games not to mention each one received a gift from the students. Priceless smiles were painted on their faces as they received their gifts. The said foundation has a profound concern toward children for them to realize the essence of life notwithstanding the struggles they have encountered. Truly, it was a good deed that has changed everyone’s life in a way or the other.

ACLC Davao Recognition Day

February 1, 2010 marked the day ACLC Davao held its Recognition Day at San Felix Bldg., MacArthur Highway, Matina here in the city. The aim of the said event is to recognize the commendable effort of the students in both academics and student service. It has been an annual event where students are awarded with certificates accompanied by their parents/guardians.

With Ms. Mary Jane V. Dalagan, the OIC/School Director as the opening remarks, the students and their parents were inspired as Ms. Liezel Salera, one of the faculty members, delivered her speech as the whole ceremony ended. Moreover, the awardees themselves also showcased their talents in singing during the event. Truly, it was a day of showing what the ACLC is truly made up of.
